Myth 1: “It can go anywhere”

Mira microcement is an excellent material for walls and facades, but it is not intended for surfaces that are walked on (floors, stair treads), or for the shower zone with its direct stream of water. Those places need more hard-wearing solutions. Know the limits, and you will get a surface that lasts.
Myth 2: “It cracks quickly”
This myth comes from incorrect application. Applied correctly — on a well-prepared, stable and primed substrate — microcement is durable and flexible. Cracks almost always come from mistakes in the preparation or from a moving substrate, not from the material itself. That is why quality workmanship matters just as much as the product.
Myth 3: “It’s cold and industrial”
Many people picture grey, gloomy concrete. In reality the range of shades is wide — from warm clay and sand tones to soft greys and deep anthracite. The shade fully determines the mood of the room: a warm one creates comfort, a cool one clean modernity.
Myth 4: “It needs no maintenance”
Microcement is easy to look after, but it isn’t “fit and forget”. The protective coating wears down over time, especially in damp and heavily used areas, and it needs to be renewed periodically. It is a simple procedure that keeps the surface looking good for years.
Myth 5: “It can only be applied to a bare wall”
Quite the opposite — it can be applied over concrete, drywall and even old tiles. That is why it often saves time and money in a renovation: there is no need to remove the old finish, which means less dust and less construction waste.
Microcement is neither a miracle cure nor a temperamental material. It is a reliable solution as long as you understand where to use it and how to care for it.
