The bathroom is one of the rooms where microcement looks its best. A seamless surface without a grid of tile joints makes the room feel visually calm and more spacious, and the matte texture creates an almost spa-like mood. There is, however, one important limit to understand right at the design stage.
Where microcement works?
Mira microcement performs well everywhere there is moisture and splashing water, but no direct stream of water:
– walls by the basin and the bathtub;
– walls around the mirror, the cabinets and the toilet area;
– ceilings and niches.

Where microcement doesn’t work — the shower zone
The main limit is the shower zone. Mira microcement does not withstand a direct, constant stream of water — where water hits the surface directly over a long period, problems can develop over time. So the “wet” shower area calls for a different solution: tiles or a professional waterproofing system. This isn’t a shortcoming, but the right use of the material — the shower zone simply requires a different approach.
The best-looking solution — a deliberate combination
The best scenario is often a combination of microcement and tiles: microcement on all the walls and tiles only in the shower zone. If the tiles are chosen deliberately — close in shade to the microcement, or as a conscious contrast — the result looks like a considered design decision rather than a compromise. That way you get a unified look and the right protection exactly where it is needed.
Care and maintenance
Day to day, it is enough to wipe the surface with a soft, damp cloth and a mild cleaning product. Abrasive powders and harsh chemicals should be avoided. In wet rooms it is a good idea to renew the protective coating over time, so the surface keeps its moisture resistance.
