Microcement is a thin decorative cement-based coating that creates a continuous, seamless surface. Microcement is applied in thin layers — usually only a few millimetres thick. That means it can be applied directly on top of the existing surface without losing room space. The work is done in stages: first the surface is prepared and primed, then the microcement layers are applied, and finally the surface is sealed with a protective coating that makes it durable and easy to look after.
What can it be applied to?
One of the biggest advantages is how adaptable it is. Microcement can be applied over concrete, drywall, plaster and even old tiles. That is exactly why it is often a faster and cleaner solution in renovations — there is no need to remove the old finish, which means less dust and less construction waste.
Where is microcement used?

– on facades and in outdoor spaces (here a special, weather-resistant product is used).
Where microcement should not be used?
It is just as important to know the limits. Mira microcement is a product for walls, so it should not be applied:
– on floors and stair treads — surfaces that are walked on, because constant load wears them down over time;
– in the shower zone, where there is a direct and constant stream of water — that calls for tiles or a waterproofing system.
These limits are not a shortcoming, but an honest use of the material where it performs best.
